The PAS will present a candidate for the position of Prime Minister once the Constitutional Court validates the mandate of the new Legislature, announced Speaker Igor Grosu. Dorin Recean declined to lead the next Government and will submit the parliamentary mandate he won.

“According to the Constitution, the current Government remains in an interim capacity until the new cabinet of ministers takes office. We await the validation of mandates, but to provide more predictability, the PAS will put forward a candidate for Prime Minister. The PAS faction, the entire PAS team, enjoyed good and efficient cooperation with the Prime Minister throughout this period. The country faced multiple challenges, including interference from a foreign state in democratic processes alongside criminal groups,” said Grosu.

Until then, the current head of the Executive will continue to serve in an interim role. Recean thanked his colleagues in the party and the head of state for their collaboration.

“Today we celebrate a Moldova that has escaped the oligarchs and is working toward European Union membership. Thanks to state institutions, citizens learned quickly and chose to protect the interests of the state in the most difficult moments,” stated Recean.

In the parliamentary elections of September 28, Recean held the second position on the PAS list, and the party won 55 mandates.
