European institutions in Brussels invited the Republic of Moldova as a special guest to the Europe Day celebrations held on May 10. Visitors from across the continent stopped by Moldova’s stand to learn more about the country’s culture and values, especially in its path toward European integration.
European Commissioner for Equality, Crisis Preparedness, and Response, Hadja Lahbib, voiced strong support for Moldova’s EU membership aspirations.
We are happy to have Moldova as our guest today and look forward to welcoming you as a full member of the European family. We believe that together we can build a stronger Union and a better world,” she said.

Moldova’s stand featured cultural activities such as the “Children of Europe” painting workshop led by artist Cezara Kolesnik, and musical performances by soprano Violeta Botezatu accompanied by the traditional cobza. Both the general public and the Moldovan diaspora in Belgium warmly received and appreciated these moments.
It marks the first time Moldova has participated in European festivities in Brussels on such a large scale. Moldova’s Mission to the EU and the Ministry of Culture supported and organized the events through the Cultural Diplomacy Program.
