Romania continues to offer unconditional support for Moldova—support rooted in consensus, continuity, and predictability, regardless of internal electoral cycles. Ilie Bolojan, President of the Romanian Senate, delivered this message during a meeting with the Moldovan parliamentary delegation from the Foreign Policy and European Integration Commission at the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest.
According to a press release from the Romanian Senate, the meeting reconfirmed the excellent bilateral relations between Romania and Moldova, focusing on parliamentary cooperation and Romania’s firm commitment to Moldova’s European integration.
During the discussions, both sides emphasized their shared priorities: supporting pro-European political forces, advancing Moldova’s EU accession process, and strengthening the country’s resilience against hybrid threats.
“2025 is a decisive year for Moldova’s European agenda. In this context, Romania supports the adoption of an ambitious accession calendar,” the Romanian Senate stated.
Deputy Parliament Speaker Doina Gherman expressed her appreciation for Romania’s unwavering support.

“Today in Bucharest, we had a very productive meeting with Ilie Bolojan. I thanked him for his consistent support. Whether he serves as mayor, party leader, or President of the Senate, he always stands by our side, ready to help,” said Gherman. “We discussed simplifying procedures for obtaining Romanian citizenship, easing customs traffic, and expanding educational opportunities for Bessarabian students.”
The officials also addressed the political landscape in both Moldova and Romania.
“We have faced electoral cycles marked by major challenges, foreign interference, and unprecedented attacks on national security. But we’ve learned from these experiences, grown more resilient, and remain committed to Moldova’s European path,” Gherman noted.

“Together, we’ve built roads, renovated schools and kindergartens, connected energy networks, and invested in our communities. We will continue to move forward on Moldova’s European path—with care for our country and alongside trusted friends. Our road to the EU passes through Bucharest,” she emphasized.
