Speaker Igor Grosu Congratulates Moldovan Athletes for Winning Gold and Bronze at International Competitions

Speaker of Parliament Igor Grosu today congratulated Moldovan athletes who recently earned gold and bronze medals at major international competitions. He praised their achievements, stating, “Thanks to these young people, the Republic of Moldova is reaching the highest podiums.”

Grosu expressed his gratitude for the athletes’ dedication and hard work, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continued investment in sports.

“Moldovan athletes had an excellent start at the World University Games in Germany, where our country reached the top of the podium. Olympian Adil Osmanov brought home the gold medal. Meanwhile, at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Skopje, North Macedonia, our athletes have already secured four medals. Shooter Climentii Ursu won two gold medals in the 10-meter air pistol event, while judokas Gabriela Herța and Alexandra Chiron each earned bronze. Thank you for your dedication and perseverance. Your victories bring Moldova to the global stage. We’re on the right path, and we will continue to support sports,” the Speaker said.

Over the past three years, Moldova has increased its investment in sports by 80%, from 341 million lei to 730 million lei. This funding has enabled the renovation of 133 sports halls and fields. Additionally, scholarships for elite athletes have doubled, with the highest monthly scholarship now reaching approximately 65,600 lei.
