On May 30, during the International Aviation Event conference, Moldovan Infrastructure Minister Andrei Spinu announced the preparation of a feasibility study for a new terminal at the airport construction.
The minister said that the current airport infrastructure per year can serve between 3.5 million passengers and a maximum of 4.2 million passengers.
“The number of passengers is growing significantly, and to cope with the infrastructure and to become even more competitive, we need a larger airport that meets all European standards. The new terminal will be able to serve more than 5 million passengers per year,” said Minister Spinu.
Spynu expressed hope that the feasibility study will be finalized by the end of the year, saying that an agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank, is already in place.
