The authorities in the Transnistrian region have introduced a state of emergency in the economy, IPN correspondent in Tiraspol reports.
The regional administration took the decision amid what it describes as a slowdown in settlement operations within the European Union, a situation that it says has seriously affected economic activity and financial flows. During the state of emergency, the authorities will prioritize heating supply for the population and will restrict natural gas deliveries to the industrial sector.
Earlier, three major enterprises in the region placed their employees on technical unemployment. These include the Ribnita Cement Plant, the Tirotex textile factory, and the Moldovan Metallurgical Plant, according to sources cited by IPN.
The authorities first introduced the state of emergency in the economy on the left bank of the Dniester in December 2024 and have extended it periodically since then.
