Moldovan firefighters from the second contingent deployed to Greece sprang into action immediately. On their first operational day, Greek authorities called on them to assist in combating wildfires.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (GIES), the Moldovan team intervened near the town of Melissa shortly after arriving, where flames threatened residential areas.
Firefighters responded promptly and employed strategic methods to extinguish the fire, successfully adapting to challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions.

They continued their intervention through the night, and after roughly 10 hours of nonstop firefighting, the team returned to their operations base.
On August 2, Moldovan firefighters mobilized again—this time near the towns of Kokkori and Evinochori—where they worked along with Greek crews to locate and extinguish active fire hotspots.
The second Moldovan contingent, comprising 22 wildfire specialists, arrived in Greece on August 1, 2025, as part of a rotation of forces.
