On Saturday, November 1, President Maia Sandu sent a message of gratitude to the government team that had completed its term. The head of state noted that the government led by Dorin Recean “made history by passing the referendum on the European integration of the Republic of Moldova.”

“It was a government that maintained peace, defended democracy and the safety of citizens, implemented important programs for the development of the country and localities, and made history by passing the referendum on the European integration of the Republic of Moldova. I know what efforts and sacrifices went into these achievements. I thank all my colleagues in the outgoing cabinet,” said Maia Sandu at the swearing-in ceremony of the new cabinet of ministers, ipn reports.

The head of state emphasized that she is grateful to Dorin Recean for taking on the responsibility of governing at a difficult time, noting that he has proven himself to be a “very good manager in crisis situations.”

“I thank the ministers Ala Nemerenco, Sergiu Prodan, Veronica Mihailov-Moraru, Sergiu Lazarencu, Victoria Belous, Doina Nistor, and Roman Rosca. I wish them success in all their future endeavors,” the president added.

The mandate of the Dorin Recean Government began on February 16, 2023, and ended on November 1, 2025, with the swearing-in of the new Cabinet.

On October 31, Parliament took note of Dorin Recean’s resignation from his parliamentary mandate, which he had obtained following the September 28 elections. The former prime minister had previously announced that he was withdrawing from public and political life.

Alongside Dorin Recean, seven other members of Parliament elected on the Party of Action and Solidarity’s lists also gave up their mandates.

Five of them — Vladimir Bolea, Mihail Popsoi, Emil Ceban, Ludmila Catlabuga, and Dan Perciun — are part of the new Government. Nicolae Popescu resigned from his parliamentary mandate to take up the position of Special Envoy for European Affairs and Strategic Partnerships. Artur Mija also gave up his mandate; at the beginning of October, he announced his decision to step down as Secretary General of the Government and Secretary General of the Party of Action and Solidarity, citing a personal decision made prior to the electoral campaign.
