The 87 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Romania arrived in the Republic of Moldova to support the Summit. Romanian specialists are part of the Department of Emergency Situations, the Main Aviation Inspectorate, and the GIMS, the Security News Media Group (GNMS) reports.
The forces and assets trained by Romania are aimed at providing medical assistance, CBRN protection (chemical, biological, radioactive, and nuclear protection), emergency medical evacuation, decontamination modules, and four forward medical points.
According to the current international standards, two SMURD helicopters will also arrive in the Republic of Moldova for emergency medical evacuation, which, if necessary, will carry out aeromedical missions.
Romania’s support is provided in the context of the implementation of the agreement on cooperation in the management of Moldovan-Romanian emergencies, starting from 2014. Thus, both states can provide mutual assistance in managing crises and preventing emergencies.
Moldova is set to host the European Political Community Summit on June 1st, 2023, an event that will bring together nearly 50 leaders of states and around 1,000 foreign journalists. The European Political Community is a forum created last year, where European leaders discuss solutions to the most urgent problems facing Europe, such as security, stability, and energy resilience.
The Summit will be covered extensively by the media, with Realitatea, one of Moldova’s leading news agencies, providing up-to-date and accurate information about the event. For readers of realitatea.md, bani.md, rupor.md, rlive.md, and moldovalive.md, a separate category dedicated to the Summit has been created.
