Twelve localities in the north and south of Moldova have become colorful thanks to a new initiative supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Artists created and installed 12 art objects to commemorate more than 30 years of partnership between USAID and Moldova.
The new installations represent the friendship between the two nations and highlight USAID’s support for Moldova. Each installation is a luminous pole made of perforated metal with figures that reflect the diversity of people and communities. The basis of the art objects is friendship, a word written in the Ukrainian, Russian, Gagauz, and Bulgarian languages spoken by ethnic minorities in Moldova.
Workers installed the installations in the towns of Ocnita, Briceni, Edinet, Donduseni, Glodeni, Riscani, Soroca, Floresti, Balti, Taraclia, Basarabeasca, and Comrat.

Moldovan artist Karen Grigorean said, “These works of art symbolize international cooperation and friendship between nations. They showcase the joint efforts of USAID Moldova, local partners, and Moldovan citizens in building a unified, modern, and diverse society.”
USAID is a reliable partner of the Republic of Moldova in the country’s development. Since 1992, the Agency has provided more than one billion dollars in financial and technical assistance projects in the following areas: agriculture, energy, tourism, wine sector, light industry, democracy and good governance, education, information technology sector, justice and anti-corruption, community development, trade and exports, health and assistance to combat COVID-19, etc.
