The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) and the state-owned air traffic management company MOLDATSA account for more than half of all public sector salaries exceeding 50,000 lei per month, according to an analysis presented by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan.
The study, based on data from the State Tax Service, examined approximately 40,000 employees across 125 public institutions and state-owned enterprises.
The findings show that 439 employees, or 1.1% of those analyzed, receive net monthly salaries above 50,000 lei, while 152 employees earn more than 80,000 lei per month.
The National Bank of Moldova tops the ranking, with 124 employees earning more than 50,000 lei per month, including 61 whose salaries exceed 80,000 lei.
MOLDATSA ranks second, with 102 employees receiving net salaries above 50,000 lei, including 60 earning more than 80,000 lei per month.
They are followed by:
- ANRE (National Agency for Energy Regulation) – 36 employees earn more than 50,000 lei, including six with salaries above 80,000 lei;
- Energocom – 24 employees receive more than 50,000 lei, including one earning over 80,000 lei;
- Agency for Electronic Governance – 12 employees have net salaries exceeding 50,000 lei.
When ranked by median net salary, ANRE leads with 43,981 lei, followed by MOLDATSA (43,200 lei), Energocom (36,964 lei), the Agency for Electronic Governance (32,500 lei), and the National Bank of Moldova (30,341 lei).
The government’s analysis also found that 85.8% of employees in the institutions examined receive net monthly salaries below 20,000 lei, while the overall median net salary across the analyzed public sector stands at around 9,000 lei.
