The EU about how Moscow helped Nesterovschi to escape: Moldovan authorities to investigate. We stand in solidarity

The European Union expressed solidarity with Moldova if authorities confirmed that the Kremlin assisted Alexandr Nesterovschi’s escape. Meanwhile, a European Commission spokesperson stressed that Moldovan authorities must investigate the convicted politician’s disappearance.

“The Moldovan authorities must conduct the investigation, and we have full confidence in them. If confirmed, this would align with Russian propaganda tactics and standard interference methods aimed at destabilizing Moldova, including Gagauzia. We fully support the Moldovan authorities and continue working to strengthen the resilience of Moldovan society,” the spokesperson stated.

On the morning of March 31, Information and Security Service chief Alexandru Musteata announced that the Russian embassy directly facilitated Nesterovschi’s escape to Transnistria. According to Musteata, the politician allegedly crossed into the breakaway region in a minibus with diplomatic plates, bypassing checks at separatist-controlled checkpoints.
