The European Union will allocate around €200 million from its €1.9 billion financial package to renovate and equip schools, colleges, and universities in Moldova. Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun reported it.
Perciun explained that part of this funding will develop the model school network, which currently includes 90 educational institutions. “About 50% of all our students study there because these are some of the largest schools. However, this does not mean we will neglect investments in other schools,” he said during the “Innovation in Education: Erasmus+ and STEAM Without Borders in Moldova” event in Chisinau.
The minister also emphasized the government’s commitment to raise education salaries to match the national average by 2030. “Salaries have increased by approximately 60% in recent years, and we must maintain this trend to reach the economy-wide average,” Perciun added.
During her official visit to Moldova, Roxana Minzatu, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, highlighted the widespread shortage of teaching personnel across EU member states. To address this challenge, the EU plans to launch a support package.
