Moldova leads all candidate countries for accession to the European Union in implementing the Growth Plan and stands as the only state that has fully met the requirements of the first reporting period and exceeded them ahead of schedule. EU Director General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations Gert Jan Koopman made these statements during a meeting of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Gert Jan Koopman said that Moldova progress in implementing the Growth Plan is extremely encouraging and that the country clearly stands out among other candidate states.
He stated that Moldova is the only candidate country that has not only fully implemented all requirements of the first reporting period but has also gone three steps beyond them as early as June 2025. He added that Moldova is also on track to achieve very good results for the second reporting period, which has recently concluded.
