The European Parliament has overwhelmingly approved the Annual Report on relations with the Republic of Moldova, signaling strong political backing for the country’s EU aspirations. With 456 votes in favor, the resolution marks a significant endorsement of Moldova’s reform progress and sets the stage for accelerated negotiations on EU accession.
“We thank the European Parliament for the clear and strong support shown to the Republic of Moldova,” stated Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu following the vote. “Today’s vote is a vital sign of encouragement for our citizens, who believe in European values and fight every day for a secure, free, and dignified future within the European family,” he added.
The adopted report acknowledges Moldova’s strides in aligning national legislation with European standards and calls on the European Commission to offer tangible support for launching negotiations. Eurodeputies have also urged the EU to grant permanent trade liberalization and to enhance protective measures against foreign interference.

Grosu emphasized the importance of this momentum: “MEPs recognize our progress in adopting European legislation and are calling for a faster accession process, concrete support for negotiations, permanent trade liberalization, and protection against external meddling.”
