The Foreign Affairs Ministry (MFA) has rejected the statements made by Russia’s Embassy in Moldova, accusing Chisinau of causing the energy crisis in the Transnistrian region. The ministry also instructed the summoning of Russia’s representative.
The MFA labeled the Russian Embassy’s actions as “dangerous misinformation” designed to shift responsibility for a crisis that Moscow itself caused.
“We categorically condemn the false statements intended to divide Moldovan society and obscure the true origin of the energy crisis in the Transnistrian region. It is a cynical attempt to manipulate public opinion and blame Chisinau or Kyiv, while the full responsibility lies exclusively with Moscow,” the ministry’s communique stated.
The ministry emphasized that the responsibility for gas deliveries to the Transnistrian region rests entirely with Russia and the Gazprom corporation, which chose to ignore its contractual obligations and failed to provide viable solutions to ensure continued gas supplies.

“The decision to halt deliveries is purely political, aimed at destabilizing Moldova. Any attempt to assign this responsibility elsewhere is false and deeply cynical,” the communique added.
Moldova’s government has demonstrated its commitment to supporting citizens on both sides of the Dniester, even during challenging winter.
“Our country firmly condemns the provocative rhetoric and dangerous insinuations about a supposed ‘forcible settlement’ of the Transnistrian issue. Moldova remains steadfast in its commitment to peaceful reintegration through dialogue, respecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the MFA affirmed.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry demanded that Russia’s Embassy immediately halt its misinformation campaign, which continues to damage bilateral relations and worsen the regional situation.
