The Government Pushes for More Underground Parking to Reduce Congestion and Expand Green Spaces

The government will incentivize real estate developers to build more underground parking spaces to reduce traffic congestion and free up residential courtyards for green areas.

To support this initiative, authorities will amend the Urbanism and Construction Code, focusing on land coverage percentages and land use coefficients. These changes form part of a broader legislative package approved by the Cabinet to ensure that public institutions, developers, and citizens apply urban planning and construction rules.

“We intend to help the people of Chisinau, Balti, and the residents of our cities who are most in need of this project,” said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

The amendments will also clarify the roles of the National Inspectorate for Technical Supervision (INST) and the police. The INST will identify construction violations, while the police will ensure public order and support the INST in enforcing legal measures.
