Moldova’s delegation is in Brussels to discuss Chapter 7 on intellectual property rights. Once aligned with European standards, this will enhance the protection of creations and innovations.
Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov leads the delegation, and experts from the European Commission are holding the talks.
“Once aligned with European standards, our citizens will benefit from better protection of copyrights, patents, trademarks, and other forms of intellectual property. This will safeguard creations and innovations while increasing access to quality products and services,” said Gherasimov.

Two weeks ago, in Brussels, Moldova held bilateral screenings on Chapter 2 (Free Movement of Workers) and Chapter 3 (Right to Set Up Businesses and Freedom to Provide Services). During these meetings, government representatives presented the national regulatory and institutional framework and outlined the timeline for transposing EU legislation in these areas.
Moldova officially began EU accession negotiations on June 25, 2024, when the intergovernmental conference in Luxembourg launched them. The authorities are currently coordinating the bilateral screening phase.
