Moldova’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) declared that the Russian Federation’s leadership—persecuting opposition, silencing the free press, and eliminating political opponents—has no legitimacy to lecture Moldova on democracy.
The MFA emphasized: “Our institutions act solely on the basis of law and the principles of the rule of law, regardless of external pressures or insinuations.”
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Moldovan authorities of pressuring the pro-Russian opposition ahead of parliamentary elections. She pointed to parties tied to Ilan Shor, the number of polling stations for voters from the left bank of the Dniester, and protests organized by the Shor crime group.
