Thirty-four Moldovan tourists remain stranded in South Asia after their return flights to the Republic of Moldova, with transit through the Middle East, were disrupted. Valeriu Mija, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova, said authorities are seeking solutions to help them return home.

Mija stated that the National Association of Travel Agencies of Moldova provided the data to the Foreign Ministry in Chisinau. He added that the ministry’s Consular Affairs Directorate is cooperating with the association to recommend the necessary actions.

Currently, the Embassy of Moldova in Israel has registered 17 evacuation requests, two of which authorities have already resolved. Eight Moldovan citizens have requested evacuation from the Embassy of Moldova in Qatar, while 96 have applied to the Embassy of Moldova in the United Arab Emirates.

Two Moldovan citizens requesting evacuation from Israel will travel by bus provided by the Embassy of Romania in Israel to Taba, from where they will continue their journey by plane using tickets they already purchased.

As of March 3, hundreds of Moldovans have called emergency numbers or sent emails to the country’s diplomatic missions in the region to obtain information about possible evacuation flights, request consular assistance, or clarify details regarding transit through the Middle East.
