The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, met on July 27 with the Chancellor of Austria, Karl Nehammer, where she expressed her gratitude for the support provided to our country through the Austrian Development Agency. During the meeting, the current projects implemented in the Republic of Moldova together with the Austrian state were discussed, the press service of the presidential administration reports.
Projects include rural development, and education, agriculture, and environmental initiatives.
“The current projects carried out in Moldova with the help of the Austrian state and its citizens are based on our priorities: development of rural areas, provision of water supply and sewerage services to the population, development of public services, projects in education, agriculture, environmental protection,” the president said.
Maia Sandu also informed the chancellor about the Moldovan authorities’ efforts to fulfill the conditions imposed by the European Commission and about the desire to start negotiations with the European Union as soon as possible. She expressed hope for Austria’s support to convince the European community of Moldova’s seriousness and of Moldova’s willingness to carry out fundamental reforms.
“We are also counting on the support of Austria to convince the European community that Moldova is serious about its commitments and has started the process of fundamental reforms. We need all kinds of support to move along the European path, the only path that can ensure peace and prosperity,” the head of state added.
