Prime Minister Dorin Recean opened Wednesday’s government meeting with remarks on the parliamentary elections and immediately thanked Artur Mija, who announced his resignation as Secretary General. The Cabinet supported his decision and appointed Ana Calinici as his successor.
“I thank Artur for his dedication and for the hard work he accomplished with the team,” said Recean. “He transformed the Chancellery into an institution much closer to local public administration. Artur showed that the Chancellery is not just about documents and processes, but about people. He also proved how capable young people can be in politics. Thank you, Artur.”
Mija, who ran on the PAS list for Parliament, announced his resignation the night before. “I have been involved in PAS politics for almost ten years. I participated in ten national election campaigns and had the honor of coordinating two of them — the 2023 local elections and the 2025 parliamentary elections,” he declared. “I will remain a party member and will responsibly pay my annual dues. I made this decision before the campaign, and it is personal. I respectfully ask not to imply other reasons, because they do not exist.”
