The construction of the new headquarters of the United States Embassy in the Republic of Moldova was declared a public utility of national interest on Thursday, February 20. Sixty members of Parliament passed a draft law approving this measure in the second reading.
As a result, the government will expropriate all properties necessary for the U.S. Embassy building. It includes buildings, whether completed, unfinished, or temporary— and any other attached structures on the land designated for the new headquarters. Additionally, genuine property rights and other patrimonial rights over this land will also be subject to expropriation.
