Parliament Deputy Speaker Vlad Batrincea announced that the Socialist Party, together with representatives of other opposition parties, will submit a motion of no confidence against the government led by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu. He said the initiative seeks to evaluate the government’s performance after its first three months in office, according to IPN.
“This exercise is necessary. The Prime Minister must come to Parliament and report, based on the submitted motion of no confidence, on what he has done during these three months in office. The entire country should see that he has done nothing. Mr. Munteanu came with high expectations that others artificially created,” Batrincea said during the program Puterea a Patra on N4.
The politician added that the Constitution gives the opposition the right to use a motion of no confidence to demand explanations from the Government regarding its decisions and actions.
“A motion of no confidence gives us a legal opportunity to hold the Prime Minister accountable and to convey everything people think about this Government’s activity. What is happening in agriculture, education, and the energy sector? The Prime Minister must answer many questions, including what projects he brought back from Davos after an extremely expensive trip,” the PSRM MP said.
Under the law, Parliament can adopt a motion of no confidence if at least 51 MPs support it. At present, the PAS parliamentary faction holds 55 seats in Parliament.
