Adrian Balutel, head of the Presidential Administration, dismissed recent claims that Russian authorities detained a former Information and Security Service (ISS) employee for espionage, according to TVR.md. During a TV program, Balutel said the claims were “taken from a poorly written story,” and no evidence supports their authenticity.
His remarks come after Russian media reported that Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSS) had uncovered the activities of former ISS employee Dmitri Rusnac, who allegedly traveled to Russia to gather information about Moscow’s plans regarding Moldova.
Balutel emphasized that “we are not talking about verified information” and described the allegations as “fake news aimed at destabilizing the situation in Moldova.”

“At the institutional level, beyond a few statements in the press, we have not seen any documents or information confirming the truth of these claims,” Balutel added.
In a response to TVR Moldova, the ISS press service declined to comment on the matter.
