On November 11, the Action and Solidarity Party (ASP) President, Igor Grosu, and the National Liberal Party (NLP) President, Nicolae Ciuca, held a joint press briefing. During the event, the two political leaders discussed the challenges faced by Moldova during the presidential election campaign and the constitutional referendum, as well as the economic growth and country development plan within the framework of European Union integration. They emphasized Romania’s continued support in aiding Moldova through this process.
Igor Grosu highlighted that this year’s electoral campaign faced numerous challenges, notably due to interference from the Russian Federation. Additionally, the President of the Parliament underlined the significance of close collaboration with Romania, noting that Romania’s support is essential for achieving the goals of European integration.
NLP and ASP belong to the broader European People’s Party family, which has been a tremendous advantage for the Action and Solidarity Party. NLP, MEPs, politicians, ministers, deputies, and senators were essential in making important decisions regarding the European course of the Republic of Moldova. Igor Grosu highlighted Romania’s immense, generous, and ongoing support, mentioning infrastructure projects, cultural initiatives, and various efforts that have benefited and will continue to assist Moldova.

Nicolae Ciuca reiterated Romania’s commitment to supporting Moldova’s European path. He emphasized the importance of robust leadership in Chisinau, praising Maia Sandu’s re-election and leadership in steering Moldova’s European integration. Ciuca noted the mutual importance of leadership in both countries, underlining the ongoing cooperative efforts and political support between Romania and Moldova to achieve these shared objectives.
The NLP leader emphasized the need to prevent Moscow-aligned political parties, like AUR and SOS, from forming coalitions that could distort the outcome of the upcoming elections at the end of this year. He stated that authorities must take some measures to ensure these parties do not manipulate the political landscape in Romania.
“The National Liberal Party is the most pro-European and pro-Atlantic political party in Romania. We must do everything possible to ensure that parties that act as Moscow’s mouthpieces in Romania, namely AUR and SOS, cannot join political coalitions that would distort the final election results. This would divert Romania from its path of continued economic development and from strengthening its role in the Black Sea region and Eastern Europe,” said the NLP leader.
Between November 22 and December 1, Romanian citizens, including those from the Republic of Moldova with a Romanian passport, are invited to vote in the presidential, parliamentary, and senate elections. This process is part of the democratic procedure for electing Romania’s leaders.
