The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) will continue supporting Moldova in key strategic areas. Prime Minister Dorin Recean discussed ongoing projects with these international organizations during his visit to New York.
In a meeting with UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner, Recean reaffirmed Moldova’s commitment to active collaboration on the 2023-2027 Country Programme, focusing on inclusive institutions, participatory governance, social cohesion, sustainable economic growth, and ecological development.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for UNDP’s support in managing the refugee crisis, improving energy efficiency, reducing energy vulnerability, advancing digital transformation, and implementing climate adaptation measures.

During a meeting with UNFPA Executive Director Natalia Kanem, Recean praised the organization’s vital role in addressing the Ukrainian refugee crisis and its integration in Moldova. They also discussed the 2023 population and housing census, which will provide the government with valuable data for shaping public policies.
The cooperation will focus on labor market policy improvements, programs for youth and the elderly, and strengthening data-driven governance. A key priority is developing the EmpowerAI Hub in Moldova—an innovation lab for promoting social inclusion and gender equality.
“As we advance toward European integration, the expertise and assistance of international partners are essential for strengthening public administration, optimizing financial management, updating legislation, and driving Moldova’s digital transformation,” Prime Minister Recean noted.
