During her visit to Paris, President Maia Sandu met with UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay to discuss cooperation in culture, education, and the protection of Moldova’s cultural heritage.
They focused on preserving the Gagauz language and culture. UNESCO classifies Gagauz as an endangered language, and President Sandu supports initiatives to protect and promote it as part of Moldova’s cultural identity.

“The Gagauz language is part of our cultural heritage. We prioritize its protection and promotion, and UNESCO’s support is crucial for its preservation,” said President Sandu.
President Sandu traveled to Paris on a working visit at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.
