Vice President of Parliament and PSRM MP Vlad Batrancea, together with former Minister of Agriculture Ion Perju, presented a legislative initiative proposing an amendment to the 2026 state budget and an additional 1.4 billion lei for the National Fund for Agriculture and Rural Development. Batrancea noted that the draft has already been registered in Parliament.

He stated that the proposed amount corresponds to debts the Government owes agricultural producers for 2024. Because subsidies have not been paid, many agricultural enterprises that invested heavily are now facing serious financial difficulties and risk bankruptcy, including the loss of their agricultural machinery.

According to the PSRM, the initiative aims to ensure respect for existing legislation. Vlad Batrîncea stressed that agriculture is a strategic sector of the national economy that requires predictability, stability, and timely financing.
