The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Popsoi, met with his Indian counterpart, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. During the meeting, the officials signed a Memorandum of Understanding in agriculture.
Farmers from Moldova and India will exchange experiences, technologies, and best practices. Additionally, authorities will implement modern solutions to increase production and facilitate access to new markets for agricultural products. This memorandum will strengthen economic relations and benefit farmers and entrepreneurs in both countries.
The officials also discussed an important topic—the liberalization of Moldovan apple exports to India, the world’s largest market, which took effect on February 21, 2025.

”I thanked the Indian side for this decision, which opens new opportunities for Moldovan farmers. The good news is that today, March 19, the first Moldovan apples, by the new market access regulations, are on their way to India!” Mihai Popsoi stated.
The foreign ministers also addressed cooperation in the aviation sector. Vice Prime Minister Popsoi mentioned having a productive discussion with India’s Minister of Civil Aviation, Sri Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu. In this context, the ministers agreed to accelerate negotiations for a bilateral aviation agreement to create opportunities for Indian investments in this sector.
At the same time, Mihai Popsoi and Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar discussed several topics of mutual interest, including strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in education between Moldova and India. At the end of the meeting, the Indian Foreign Minister expressed gratitude for the invitation to visit the Republic of Moldova.
