Between January and June 2025, travel agencies and tour operators brought 44.8% more foreign visitors to the Republic of Moldova compared to the same period in 2024, reaching a total of 37,100 visitors, according to official data.
About 95% of these visitors came for day trips focused on rest, recreation, and leisure. Most tourists arrived from Romania (65% of the total), followed by Italy (21.7%) and Turkey (2%).
Foreign tourists also extended their average stay in Moldova from 4 to 4.7 days. The total number of tourist days increased by 1.6 times.

Domestic tourism saw a modest rise of 3.1% compared to last year, totaling 44,800 visitors — 76.1% of whom were day-trippers. Travel agencies from Chișinău (39.5% of the total), the Central region (38.8%), and the Southern region (20.7%) organized most of these trips.
These trends highlight the growing interest in Moldova’s tourist destinations — both among foreign visitors and Moldovan citizens.
