The Russian Foreign Ministry declared an employee of the Embassy of Moldova in the Russian Federation persona non grata in response to the same actions by the MFAEI. This is stated in a press release from the Russian Foreign Ministry following a conversation with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to the Russian Federation Lilian Dariy.
“On April 25, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to the Russian Federation, L.Dariy, was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry, to whom a strong protest was made in connection with the ongoing unfriendly steps towards Russia.
L.Dariy was handed a note from the Ministry that, as a response to the unmotivated decision of the Moldovan authorities of April 19 to declare “persona non grata” of an employee of the Russian Embassy in Moldova, the Russian side declares “persona non grata” of an employee of the Embassy of Moldova in Russia”, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
In addition, the Foreign Ministry notes that “in response to regular anti-Russian statements, as well as the accession of Chisinau to the EU sanctions lists”, the head of the Moldovan diplomatic mission was notified of the decision to close entry into the Russian Federation for a number of officials of the Republic of Moldova.
