Furtuna was appointed interim deputy head of the POCOCSC in November 2022. He is one of the prosecutors involved in the case against Alexandr Stoianoglo. Previously, he worked at the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and the Prosecutor’s Office of Chisinau.
In July 2024, the Superior Council of Prosecutors launched a new competition for the head of the POCOCSC after the previous one ended in scandal. During that competition, one of the commission members responsible for the preliminary candidate selection complained about pressure, while one of the applicants for the position of POCOCSC head claimed that their personal data had been accessed illegally. In March 2023, the SCP members canceled the competition after two candidates withdrew from the race.
