Chisinau, January 23 – Today, The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the Republic of Moldova organized an awards ceremony for the artworks of Moldovan and migrant students inspired by the theme “Every Step”. This initiative was part of the celebrations marking International Migrants Day 2024.
December last year, IOM Moldova partnered with the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts to engage young Moldovan and migrant artists to express their perspectives on migration and to bring to life the theme “Every Step” through different artistic methods. The successful exhibition allowed all participants to witness the artistic commitment and exceptional talent of young artists.
The Award Committee composed of IOM, the General Inspectorate for Migration, Academy, and the National Youth Council of Moldova have evaluated 35 artworks and identified three winners: Anastasia Radoutska, from Ukraine, category painting with “Changing Times”; Alisa Lungul, from Moldova, category graphics/watercolor with “Searching the star”; Daniela Ezbiceac, from Moldova category ceramics, with “Hope”.

“Your dedication and creativity have truly enriched International Migrants Day 2024 with a vibrant artistic component. Your artwork will allow to witness the artistic commitment and exceptional talent of Moldovan and migrant students of the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts. Today, we celebrate your talent and pay tribute to the contributions of migrants through your incredible artwork,” said Ester Ruiz de Azua, the Chief of Mission of IOM Moldova.
“I express my sincere thanks and congratulations to the students and supervising professors for taking on this challenge in such a short time and for reflecting, with empathy and involvement, on a globally relevant topic that humanity faces today: migration. I am glad that among the participants and winners of the competition there are our Ukrainian students who reflected their feelings and experiences,” said Victoria Melnic, Rector of the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts.
The students’ artwork will be promoted across IOM Moldova’s social media pages.
