The UN will continue to align its assistance with the Moldovan authorities’ current priorities

Prime Minister Dorin Recean met today with Yesim Oruc Kaya, the new Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Moldova. They discussed the extensive assistance the UN provides to Moldova and established priorities for the upcoming period.

According to the Government’s communication department, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the continuous support from all United Nations agencies in managing the Ukrainian refugee crisis and aiding their integration into society. He also highlighted the targeted assistance in social protection, human rights, justice reform, energy efficiency, green economy, and climate change adaptation and mitigation.

“Moldova is now on the European path of development, and our broad cooperation program with the UN and its assistance will facilitate the fulfillment of our modernization agenda, helping us align with the EU’s acquis. In this context, the Sustainable Development Goals are crucial for achieving what truly matters,” Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.

The new UN Resident Coordinator in Moldova affirmed that the organization’s goals align with the national objectives, and the United Nations will continue to adapt its assistance to the current priorities of the Moldovan authorities.

Currently, 25 UN funds, programs, and agencies operate in Moldova, focusing on implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, the UN-Moldova Cooperation Framework for 2023-2027, and the country programs of each specialized institution.
