European Parliament Vice President Victor Negrescu visited Chisinau and met with Speaker Igor Grosu and Acting Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi.

Speaker Grosu thanked Negrescu for the EU and European Parliament’s support and openness toward Moldova over recent years.

“This is a window of opportunity we cannot afford to miss. Moldova will work diligently to be ready for EU accession by 2028,” Grosu said.

During his meeting with Popsoi, Negrescu discussed Moldova’s progress in the EU accession process and the next steps toward European integration. Popsoi also thanked the European Parliament for adopting the September 10, 2025 resolution supporting Moldova’s resilience against hybrid threats and foreign interference.

“Moldova remains firmly committed to European integration. The September elections confirmed citizens’ strong support for this path. We will continue reforms and work closely with our European partners to open accession negotiations, and we count on the European Parliament’s continued cooperation,” Popsoi said.

Negrescu praised the September 28 parliamentary elections, the pace of reforms, and reaffirmed the European Parliament’s full support for opening accession talks and Moldova’s EU integration.
