The volume of Moldovan grape and plum exports to the European Union increased by more than 50%. According to the data presented by the Ministry of Economy, the quantity of fresh apples and domestic cherries sold on the European market has also increased.
If in 2021, Moldovan producers exported 15,800 tons of grapes, in 2023, the volume increased to 32,300 tons. The quantity of fresh apples traded on the European market increased from 1,000 to 13,2000 tons during the reference period.
Statistics show that the export volume of plums increased from 25,800 tons in 2021 to 60,400 tons in 2023. The most surprising increase is in the case of cherries. The indicator increased from 70 to 2900 tons.

The authorities claim that the increase in the trade volume with the EU is due to the liberalization of the market to Moldova. About 65% of Moldovan exports go to the European Union.
At the same time, according to Dumitru Alaiba, more than 81% of foreign direct investments in Moldova’s economy come from the EU. There are 4900 companies from EU member states in our country, with a total investment value of 20 billion lei, and the significant investing countries are Romania, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Italy, and Germany.
