The year 2025 will be declared the Year of Mihai Eminescu in Moldova

The government approved a legislative initiative to declare 2025 as the Year of Mihai Eminescu, honoring the celebrated poet’s work and legacy.

A series of cultural and educational events will mark the 175th anniversary of Eminescu’s birth throughout the year. The agenda features congresses, educational programs, a special World Congress of Eminescu Researchers edition, and a Summer School for young scholars.

In 2025, publishers will release new editions of Eminescu’s works in Romanian and 85 other languages that feature his translated poetry. The postal service will release commemorative stamps and envelopes celebrating the poet’s 175th birth anniversary.
