TikTok released a detailed report outlining the steps it took to protect the integrity of its platform during Moldova’s parliamentary elections, held on September 28, 2025.
Between July 1 and September 28, the company’s teams removed more than 9,300 pieces of content that violated rules on civic integrity, misinformation, and AI-generated material. TikTok took down 91% of this content proactively, before users reported it.
The platform also deleted over 134,000 fake accounts, removed 1.8 million fake follow requests, and blocked 1.8 million fake followers. In addition, it prevented the creation of more than 268,000 spam accounts and stopped 2.9 million fake likes.
To counter manipulation attempts, TikTok dismantled five influence networks made up of at least 7,593 accounts that promoted pro-Russian politicians and spread content designed to discredit the current government. In total, the company disrupted eight covert influence operations that targeted Moldovan users.
Ahead of the elections, TikTok launched an Election Center on August 21 in collaboration with the Central Electoral Commission, providing users with verified information about the voting process. The center attracted more than 88,000 visits.
TikTok also partnered with Reuters and STOP FALS!, organizations specializing in fact-checking and media literacy, to identify misinformation and promote educational content.
Company representatives stressed that maintaining a safe and authentic online environment remains a core mission and vowed to strengthen TikTok’s safety policies to address emerging risks in future election cycles.
