The President of the Employers’ Association of the Tourism Industry of the Republic of Moldova (APIT), Sergiu Manea, met with the EU Ambassador to Chișinău, Iwona Piórko, in a discussion that also included representatives from the country’s associative tourism sector.
According to APIT, the meeting was characterized by “openness, professionalism, and a genuine willingness to understand the real situation of tourism in our country.” The dialogue centered on the need to modernize the tourism sector on both banks of the Nistru River and align it with European standards.
The Association noted that the discussions also touched upon longstanding challenges affecting the industry — particularly barriers created by structures and individuals “who do not truly represent the interests of tourism and who were placed in key positions through external influences that no longer even exist today.”
APIT reaffirmed its firm commitment to “transparency, competence, and genuine cooperation,” stressing that only by adhering to these principles can the tourism sector evolve sustainably.
“Only in this way can we move forward and build a tourism industry worthy of the Republic of Moldova and of our European path,” the Association added.
