Natural gas deliveries to the Transnistrian region have once again reached an impasse, Energocom representative Alexandr Slusari told BANI.MD. He explained that European banks are blocking transactions after several operations, arguing that payments labeled as “donations” lack clear economic justification.

“The paying company is changing again. Now, a fourth company from the United Arab Emirates is trying to find a European bank willing to accept the payments, but so far, none have agreed,” Slusari said.

To recall, Gazprom halted gas deliveries to the left bank of the Dniester on January 1, 2025. Later, starting February 14, supplies resumed through an intermediary scheme: the Hungarian company MET Gas and Energy Marketing AG delivers gas to Moldova’s border, while an offshore firm from Dubai covers the payments. At the border, Moldovagaz receives about 3.2 million cubic meters per day and redirects the volume to Tiraspol through prepaid transactions.
