Travel alert in Portugal! Major risk requiring avoidance of travel

Tourists and travelers in Portugal are warned about the danger of wildfires. Local authorities have issued an alert regarding this phenomenon.

Authorities issued a warning for the entire mainland territory from September 18-19, 2024. They urge locals and visitors to stay informed about the current situation and avoid traveling to areas with active fires or where there is a risk of new fires starting.

The northern part of Portugal has been affected by massive wildfires for several days. Approximately 40 hotspots are active, and thousands of firefighters are battling the flames that have engulfed forests near Porto, Coimbra, Aveiro, and Viseu.
