Two Moldovan citizens were killed in a serious road accident on the morning of September 14, 2026, near the city of Barlad in Vaslui County, Romania, Moldova’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration announced through a statement from the Consulate General of Moldova in Iasi.
According to the ministry, the accident occurred after a car registered in Moldova collided with a truck.
The Consulate General of Moldova in Iasi has contacted the families of the victims, is in communication with the relevant Romanian authorities and is providing the necessary consular assistance. The institution will also support the victims’ families with the procedures required to repatriate the bodies to Moldova.
Romanian media reported that a man and a woman died on Monday, September 14, in an accident on the Barlad bypass after their car collided head-on with a truck. The victims were found trapped inside the vehicle and showed no signs of life.
