Two Moldovan professors Shine at Nobel Prize Teacher Summit 2025 in Stockholm

Two teachers from the Republic of Moldova—Natalitsa Gavrilenco and Tatiana Popa—joined 18 educators worldwide at the prestigious Nobel Prize Teacher Summit 2025 in Stockholm, Sweden. The summit brought together global teaching leaders to engage with Nobel Peace Prize Laureates and explore education’s role in shaping democratic societies.

A Platform for Global Exchange and Inspiration

The Nobel Prize Museum organized the event, selecting participants from over 700 applicants across nine countries. Nobel Laureates delivered lectures, led panel discussions, and participated in interactive sessions, emphasizing the importance of critical thinking, democracy, and global citizenship in education.

Moldovan Voices at the Summit

Natalitsa Gavrilenco, a professor at the Faculty of Law, State University of Moldova, emphasized the shared mission that unites teachers around the world:

“This was an incredibly inspiring experience! Exchanging ideas with teachers from across the globe reaffirmed our common goal—to educate generations capable of critical thinking and ready to shape the future. I thank the Nobel Prize Museum and the Swedish Institute for organizing such an extraordinary event.”

Tatiana Popa, a teacher at Heritage International School in Chisinau, shared her appreciation for the opportunity:

“I feel extremely grateful and honored to be one of 20 teachers from 9 countries awarded a scholarship to attend, out of 700 applicants. The 2025 summit focused on ‘The Future of Democracy,’ where we discussed the teacher’s role in developing critical thinking and teaching students about democracy, trust, and the importance of civic engagement. The organizers invited several Nobel Peace Prize Laureates as speakers, which made the experience truly exceptional.
