An unauthorized aerial object entered Moldova’s airspace on Wednesday evening amid Russia’s large-scale attacks on Ukraine, according to the Air Operations Service of Moldova’s National Army.
The object entered Moldovan airspace at 8:45 p.m., according to recorded data.
Authorities said it crossed the border from the direction of Sersenti, in Ukraine’s Vinnytsia region, and moved toward the area near Slobozia Rascov in the Transnistrian region. It subsequently continued toward Tipova in Rezina district.
Moldova temporarily closed the airspace over the central part of the country while authorities monitored the object’s trajectory.
The object later disappeared from monitoring systems in the area of Branesti, Orhei district.
The airspace over the central region was reopened at 9:07 p.m.
The Air Operations Service continues to monitor Moldova’s airspace in coordination with the relevant authorities and partners.
The incident follows another drone incursion earlier on Wednesday. At around 5:43 a.m., a drone flew through Moldovan airspace before crashing and exploding in an open area near the village of Hirbovat, Anenii Noi district.
Authorities continue to assess the situation and monitor developments in Moldova’s airspace.
