U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken accused the Russian state-funded TV channel RT of being involved in ‘covert operations’ and interfering in the affairs of other countries. During a press conference, he listed interference in the upcoming presidential elections in Moldova in October, where propagandists attempted to incite violence and unrest, as well as false news platforms Red and African Stream in Germany and African countries, respectively.
At the same time, Blinken stated that today, the American government is imposing sanctions on two more individuals and three entities involved in this destabilizing activity. He also announced that the USA, the United Kingdom, and Canada are launching a global diplomatic campaign to convince countries around the world to treat RT not only as a propaganda outlet but also as a tool of the Russian intelligence services.
Among the sanctioned individuals is Nelli Parutenco, the founder, director, and sole employee of the autonomous nonprofit organization ‘Eurasia,’ who also holds Moldovan citizenship.
