Prime Minister-designate Vasile Tofan has concluded discussions with Moldova’s 16 interim ministers, asking them to provide concrete assessments of priorities, challenges, and key issues within their ministries.

In a social media post, Tofan said the meetings gave him a clearer picture of the current situation across government institutions and will help shape the next steps in forming the Cabinet.

The prime minister-designate asked each minister to prepare a detailed note outlining the 3–5 most important priorities for the next 12 months, the main problems, bottlenecks, and risks facing their institutions, as well as areas where direct intervention from the prime minister could help accelerate processes.

The requested assessments also included information on ministry staff, budgets, subordinate institutions, critical commitments related to Moldova’s EU integration process, opportunities to reduce administrative costs, and one key change each minister would introduce to improve the functioning of their ministry or the government as a whole.

Tofan said the next stage will include decisions on the composition of the future government team, as well as consultations with political parties and representatives from various sectors to finalize the government programme.

“I want a government focused on a few clear priorities, disciplined in the use of public funds, and evaluated based on results. I believe that together we can meet people’s expectations,” Tofan said.
