Victor Ponta on RLIVE TV: If Russia Attacks Moldova, Romania Must Provide Military Support

Independent presidential candidate Victor Ponta said Romania must provide military support to help Moldova defend itself if Russia launches an attack. He made the statement during the April 30 edition of Rezoomat on RLIVE TV.

“If Russia attacks Moldova? The answer is simple. Romania must help Moldova militarily. We supported Ukraine—a neighboring country, not a sister nation—so we must support Moldova, our sister country.

But let’s be realistic. Romania and Moldova can’t defend themselves against a military power like Russia. We need the U.S. by our side. So, if aggression against Moldova were to happen, the first thing I would do is call President Sandu—our relations don’t matter— it is about defending people. I’d ask how we can help. Then I’d call Mr. Trump and say, ‘Romania and Moldova are under attack. Only you can stop Putin,’” Ponta said.
