“Moldova is located in a strategic part of the world,” U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen said during an official visit to Chisinau. She stated that the Trump administration understands Moldova’s importance, particularly in the context of the war in Ukraine.
While in Chisinau, Shaheen spoke about Russia’s pressure on the Republic of Moldova, Romania, and other European states. The Democratic senator said the United States is supporting key projects in Moldova, including initiatives in the energy sector.
“I believe the Trump administration has supported projects because it understands that Moldova is in a very strategic part of the world, given the war in Ukraine. We want to do everything we can to support Moldova,” Shaheen told journalists.
Jeanne Shaheen visited the Republic of Moldova after traveling to Romania. During her stay in Chisinau, she held talks with the country’s leadership and several Moldovan officials.
