Sergiu Prodan wishes to see a vintage train, similar to the Mocanita in Romania, operating in the Cahul district. The Minister of Culture made this statement during the BelEU Fest festival, which took place in Slobozia Mare, Cahul.
The Minister answered questions about the tourism sector in the Republic of Moldova and discussed the initiative. However, the official believes such ideas should not be the state’s responsibility.
“It is this protective dike with a railway. Rehabilitating the Mocanita could increase turnover tenfold. If we find and place a vintage steam train here, it will be extraordinary,” said Prodan.
However, the official believes that such ideas should involve a public-private partnership. The Minister argues that developing tourism requires collaboration between local authorities, central authorities, and businesses.
